2015 Presqu'ile Vineyard Pinot Noir

The relatively new Presqu'ile Vineyard is a fairly cool site, which leads to wines with perhaps slightly more old-world inflection than those from our other vineyards. The Presqu’ile Vineyard is in a perfect location for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. Set between the San Rafael Mountains to the north and the Solomon Hills to the south, these transverse mountains allow strong maritime influences to funnel inland, resulting in unusually long “hang time” - 125 days on average. The rolling hills throughout the vineyard are ancient sand dunes which rangebetween 200 and 1,000 feet in elevation.

The 2015 Presqu’ile Vineyard Pinot Noir captures an attractive stylistic middle ground in that it is ripe and racy, but also has good aromatic lift from the whole cluster fermentation. The aromatics waft form the glass with notes of creamy wild berry fruit, aromatic bark, a light framing of new oak. On the palate the wine has layers and quite deep, with good concentration and sappy energy. Vinous and Robert Parker 92 points.
